How do you manage symptoms while on protocol?
Feb 22, 2024Symptoms that can arise when your client is on protocol can vary from emotional lability to constipation or diarrhea and all the in-between.
Struggling on protocol can be GI in nature with nausea, bloating, diarrhea or constipation, or it can disturb sleep patterns, emotional patterns and also cause fatigue. The body is doing an extraordinary effort to potentially kill pathogens, rebalance and build the mucous layer if it was weak at the start.
A great way to help your clients be prepared is to give them a handout of common things to encounter on protocol and common solutions. Here are some examples that we teach in our course to help your client successfully stick to protocol.
- Upset tummy: we love to recommend peppermint essential oil for this… go check out all the juicy info on this natural tool on PubMed!
- Ginger extract and ginger essential oil - an absolute powerhouse of GI support for your clients no matter the GI complaint! We love to recommend two to three drops in a smoothie.
- Sleep disturbance: ask the client about sleep changes prior and make sure you have a great list of tools on hand for them! Mg glycinate, inositol, lavender, CBD, aromatherapy, short-term melatonin.
- Emotions/mood swings: Dopa boost supplements can be amazing! Along with other ones we love that have kanna, lavender, ahi flower in them! Don’t forget also here about aromatherapy with proven benefits to improve the mood! We love citrus oils for this!
And….don’t forget sometimes these signs means the body needs a break.
It never hurts to encourage the client to take a break from protocol so the body can rest.
