Interview with Courtney Bell from Intrinsic Body Wellness. We’re excited to have Courtney join us to share her journey about why a virtual practice was so crucial for her life, her family, and her dreams of helping clients around the world.

From ICU Nurse to Virtual Wellness Practitioner

I’m a nurse by trade and worked in the ICU for over ten long years. I actually met Eliza in the ICU—she was a nurse practitioner, and I was a nurse, so she got to boss me around a little bit! That's how I found out about the Mastering GI Mapping practitioner training.

I had my baby in December 2020 and really wanted to exit the hospital environment. So, I took the mastery course in March 2021 when my kid was just three months old. It was a challenging time, but I was determined to make a change.

I quit my hospital job last June, and this allowed me to gain time and flexibility. Since then, I’ve traveled to France, Costa Rica, and Alaska while managing my business virtually. This freedom is invaluable for my lifestyle and my family's wellbeing.

My journey into a virtual practice gave me the flexibility to pursue a lifestyle that I love. I run a family bed and breakfast in a rural village in Alaska every summer, and I’m able to take my business with me wherever I go.

The Transition: From Nursing to GI-MAP Practitioner

One incident in the ICU made it clear to me that I needed a change. I was serving a dying cancer patient a tray of red jello, skim milk, and white bread. This moment highlighted the misalignment of my values with the hospital environment. Moving to a virtual wellness practice allowed me to help more people and gain freedom.

Switching to a virtual practice wasn't just about the logistics; it was about fulfilling a deeper purpose. The Mastering GI Mapping course made this transition seamless. It gave me the tools to order tests and offer lifestyle information to my clients without needing a provider's license to diagnose.

Transformational Case Study

One of my most memorable clients was Maggie (not her real name), who was in her early sixties. She had severe gut issues, including several major bowel surgeries and long-term Nexium use. Her GI-MAP showed multiple parasites, high H. Pylori, and severe dysbiosis. I worked with her, designed a gut health protocol, and over time she lost 36 pounds, her cholesterol dropped by 88 points, and her fasting blood glucose went from 126 to 94.

Maggie saw significant improvements in her quality of life, including skin clarity and better sleep. She even managed to wean herself off Nexium.

"Our bodies are so intrinsically wise and capable. We just need to tap into that intrinsic wisdom."

Flexibility and Freedom

Running my virtual wellness business allows me to manage my time effectively. I schedule client calls around my commitments at the family bed and breakfast. This flexibility is crucial for maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle. I can slow down or ramp up my business depending on my needs.

The Mastering GI Mapping training paved the way for this transformation. It provided a foundation for ordering labs and offering client-centered care. Whether you're a nurse, a nurse practitioner, or a health coach, I'm proof that transitioning to a virtual wellness practice can offer you the freedom and fulfillment you’ve been seeking.
